Curated by Design

The Poet and/the Bench edit of emerging and independent designers and artists reflects our passion for discovery and a considered fascination with narrative, taste and a devotion to craft.

Shop our curation. We feature more than 50 artists and designers across jewelry, home goods, fine art and apothecary goods. These are often bespoke, 1-of-a-kind, limited edition or small batch collections.

"It Ended with a Moth" explores many layers of meaning, created over a period of 4 years.

“MY ART SEEKS TO EXPAND BOUNDARIES; IT NEEDS SPACE, DEPTH, AIR, HEIGHT, AND LIGHT FOR EXPLORATION.”

About Our Name

Jeffrey’s vintage jewelry bench is a powerfully present icon of his craft and our symbol of all makers’ tools for creating: the painter’s canvas, the textile designer’s loom, the potter’s wheel, the materials that become things…

Our mission—narrative’s ability to connect through thoughtful investigations of craft, subjects and inspirations—is the poetry, and about people and the appreciation of beauty.

Poet and/the Bench is our platform—online and at our flagship store in Mill Valley, CA—to introduce emerging and independent artists, muses and discoveries, and give them a voice. And for you to be linked to stories in a way that makes it all more personal.
