We've followed San Francisco artist Michael McConnell for many years and are thrilled to welcome him to Poet and/the Bench. We love how the animals in his paintings take on human characteristics; we've been struck by the emotionality that sits both on the surface and deep beneath. Without always knowing the symbology present in a piece, you can feel the resonance Michael has with living things.

Humor drives a lot of the ideas Michelle Im of RatxChicks has for her ceramic forms and especially, their decoration. She often pairs motifs that are deliberately out of sync to capture a sense of approachable absurdity.
