Lisa Flemming hand makes her one of a kind porcelain objects on the potter’s wheel, firing in an electric kiln to about 2300 degrees. By it’s very nature handmade work has organic qualities– a small warp here or there as the piece dries and then shrinks in firing can occur, movement happens. Especially as Lisa tries to make the walls of her forms quite thin. Glazes may vary with each kiln firing and give each piece its own character. Lisa appreciates this Japanese wabi sabi aspect to her work.
