Laura Roebuck / Fine Art / Painting / By Directional Intent

$ 15,00000

"By Directional Intent" was revisited by Laura over a period of years, typical of her process and evolving relationship with the images she paints. Many of her large paintings reflect grand, sweeping strokes across the canvas, which are often juxtaposed with other structural elements.

Laura Roebuck's paintings bring her background in psychology into the abstract concepts of her work. Art became both therapeutic for Laura and a way of self-expression during more challenging times of her career, seen in the very gestural nature of her strokes. Painting is a response to both interacting with, and reacting to, the world around her and integrating that relationship with the canvas. Laura's work also reimagines everyday worn-in objects into mixed media art.

Description
“Laura Roebuck has distilled a lifetime of creative observation and psychological exploration into an artistic language that conveys a unique sense of movement, texture, and color. Her paintings are a passageway to our inner thoughts that awaken our imagination. Laura's paintings embody a rich history of experiences: from hospitals, lecture halls, and dance studios to villages in Asia and a rural Mexican clinic while also drawing on a bi-coastal relationship to the towns and beaches of New England and California. The layered surfaces of her paintings reveal her exploratory process and fascination with color, balance, and the psyche.” ~ Susan Braham Koletsky / Museum Director
