Laura's pursuit of saturated, intense color works, alternating with studies in neutrals, muted tones and monochromes are created using common household and construction tools, traditional palette knives, paintbrushes and found, broken and collected objects.

Living and working as a psychiatrist in the Bay Area, Laura Roebuck’s passion for art and the creative process blossomed. She drew inspiration from Robert Rauschenberg’s Combines, Jackson Pollock’s action paintings, Lee Krasner’s collages, Anselm Kiefer’s massive use of materials, and Franz Kline’s broad strokes along with the compositions and color saturations of Robert Motherwell, Willem de Kooning, Helen Frankenthaler, and Joan Mitchell. Together, these influences served to catalyze Laura's artistic expression and maturing sense of form, texture, and palette.
