In the 1950’s, the Danes, Swedes and Norwegians led a design movement characterized by simplicity, minimalism and functionality. Beautiful and everyday objects were made “available to all” and brought people together around good design and innovative forms.
We have been collecting mid-Century modern design for years and recently visited Copenhagen and other areas of Denmark for inspiration and shopping. We were blown away by the design society we experienced across household goods, fashion, food (New Nordic Cuisine), the biking culture and strong sense of community.
We discovered 3 new Danish designers (Kaja Skytte, Kirsty Badenoch and Moebe) and brought back their work as well as vintage items for the shop and some other super fabulous objects. We’re also excited to feature a local artist with a love for Copenhagen with her interpretation of the Finn Juhl 1945 chair. Plus check out new jewelry designers, the newest perfume, Idyllwild by Ineke, Poet and/the Bench luxury candles and creamy new soaps. Come play!
