Permanent Jewelry / How it Works
1 Jeffrey will measure your wrist with pre-sized wire, looking for a comfortable every day fit.
These are genderless and women will likely be 6-8 inches; men will likely be 7.5-8.5 inches.
*Once the wire is fused, it is final sale, so please make sure you are happy with the fit before it is fused!
2 Jeffrey fuses the ends closed using an arc welder. A piece of leather or other protective material will be placed between the wire and your wrist. The zapping is pretty quick and makes a brief spark; he may zap more than once to ensure the wire is fused. We’ll provide protective dark glasses for you at this stage!
3 Jeffrey then finishes it with a fiberglass buffer
4 You wear your Together Permanent Jewelry as a lasting adornment
The process can take anywhere between fifteen to twenty minutes total.
Permanent Jewelry / FAQ
We've been asked if this is a tattoo…
Nope. It's a wire that is welded at the ends to create an infinity bracelet with no beginning, no end and no clasp! No skin involved. ;)
Do I Need an Appointment?
- We recommend securing your bangle by pre-buying. Make your length selection on our website along with your appointment all in the same place.
- We only secure appointments with pre-bought bangles.
- Please be on time for your appointment. If you are 10 minutes (or more) late to your appointment we reserve the right to push your appointment to the next available time slot.
- Walk-ins are welcome based on availability of bangles and open time slots but please note, we give priority to appointments. If we run out of bangle wire, we will have more within a few days to a week.
Does the Welding Hurt?
No, welding is non-invasive and pain free! The tools are basic tweezers, a clamp and a buffer and the arc welder is a micro zapper making just a small flash. We place a piece of leather between your skin and the welder to protect from any small sparks. We also provide dark protective glasses for you to wear. Final buffing is done by hand.
How Long is Permanent, Really?
We can’t guarantee anything for forever as we don’t know your lifestyle, but for many the Together Permanent Jewelry lasts years. For others, who use their hands for adventurous or strenuous activities, or have little hands that pull on things, it may need to be re-fused on a shorter schedule.
Why Is the Wire Dainty and Not Super Thick?
One reason is safety! We have to be sure that in an emergency, you or someone else can easily remove it. Other reasons may include for sports, a medical procedure or an MRI, an emergency or any other need.
What if I Need to Remove it?
If you need to remove your Together Permanent Jewelry for any reason, you can actually remove it with wire cutters at the welding point. Or come to us and we’ll help you!
What If I Accidentally Break It?
Depending on your lifestyle, a bangle can get squeezed, pulled, snagged or caught unintentionally and break. Like any other fine jewelry item it’s not indestructible. We can re-weld it for you for a nominal cost as long as it’s not too kinked. If it's too kinked, you may want to buy another.
How Much to Reconnect if ITake It Off?
You can always return to us for a re-welding for a $45 fee. The wire will need to be prepped so please call ahead.
Will it go off in a metal detector?
Nope. Metal detectors don't register jewelry metals and it’s not a requirement to remove precious metal jewelry when going through airport security.
Age Requirements?
Anyone under the age of 16 will be required to have a parent or guardian present. We restrict permanent jewelry to children 10 and over. Please be aware that younger children may grow out of it over time and we highly suggest that you keep an eye on the fit as they wear it.
Why Do Prices Sometimes Change?
Gold prices are set daily and if there is great fluctuation, we may need to adjust prices as we are sometimes paying more for gold at different times.
Can I Return It?
All permanent jewelry sales are final. If you no longer enjoy it, it is possible if it's in ok condition and the size is right, that you can gift the bangle to someone and we can weld it on the recipient for a $45 rewelding fee.
How Do I Take Care of It?
14K solid gold link bangles don’t need much care. You can remove residue by brushing it with a very soft toothbrush dipped in water with a few drops of dish washing liquid.
