Bonfire / Red Tricycle. In his Property Values series, shapes suggest structures– homes, passageways, and horizons– but remain deliberately ambiguous. The color pallets are chosen intuitively, creating a dialogue between hue and feeling, a fascination with edges and thresholds–those in-between spaces holding the possibility of transition. 

Artist Michael McConnell says, "The exploration of color has always played a central role in my work, but it wasn’t until recently that I began to focus more deliberately on the relationships between colors. In this series, I use geometric forms and layered color fields to evoke a feeling of place without depicting any specific location."
