“To me art should not seek balance as this does not reflect the conflict, the dynamics of real life, that create exciting art. I feel that good art expresses pure and honest feelings.” ~ Goli Mahallati
Goli is a Southern California artist and her focus on elongated figures is representational of the elemental state of the human condition. At once raw and organic with strength–in her choice of using a pallet knife over the brush. Her use of this particular tool, paired with bold areas of texture and color, lends itself to a roughness that's both intimate and powerful.

Born and raised in Persia, the rich history of Goli Mahallati’s country deeply impacted her as an artist, while simultaneously placing virtually insurmountable barriers for a woman to advance. Undaunted, this fearless artist pursued an education, receiving a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Tehran, a Master’s at the American International College and then a doctorate at the University of Massachusetts. Goli’s work is collected internationally.
