Permanent Jewelry / How it Works
1 Choose your Italian link chains from our selection
2 Jeffrey will measure* the chain around your wrist or ankle, looking for a comfortable every day fit.
These are genderless and women will likely be 6-8 inches; men will likely be 7.5-8.5 inches; and anklets average 8.5".
*Once the chain is cut, it is final sale, so please make sure you are happy with the style and length before Jeffrey cuts the chain!
3 Jeffrey cuts the chain, opens the link and then the process of fusing happens
4 Jeffrey fuses the open link closed using an arc welder. A piece of leather or other protective material will be placed between the chain and your wrist or ankle. The zapping is pretty quick and makes a brief spark. We’ll provide protective dark glasses for you at this stage! Sometimes it takes 2 zaps to fully close the link.
5 Jeffrey then finishes it with a fiberglass buffer
6 You wear your Together Permanent Jewelry as a lasting adornment
The process can take anywhere between ten to fifteen minutes total.
Permanent Jewelry / FAQ
We've been asked if this is a tattoo…
Nope. It's a chain that is welded at the ends to create an infinity bracelet with no beginning, no end and no clasp! No skin involved. ;)
Do I Need an Appointment?
- We recommend securing your chain by pre-buying. Make your chain and length selection on our website along with your appointment all in the same place.
- We only secure appointments with pre-bought bracelets.
- Please be on time for your appointment. If you are 10 minutes (or more) late to your appointment we reserve the right to push your appointment to the next available time slot.
- Walk-ins are welcome based on availability of chain and open time slots but please note, we give priority to appointments. If we run out of chain, we will have more within a few days.
Does the Welding Hurt?
No, welding is non-invasive and pain free! The tools are basic tweezers, a clamp and a buffer and the arc welder is a micro zapper making just a small flash. We place a piece of leather between your skin and the welder to protect from any small sparks. We also provide dark protective glasses for you to wear. Final buffing is done by hand.
How Long is Permanent, Really?
We can’t guarantee anything for forever as we don’t know your lifestyle, but for many the Together Permanent Jewelry lasts years. For others, who use their hands for adventurous or strenuous activities, or have little hands that pull on things, it may need to be re-linked on a shorter schedule. Or a new chain bought if it has stretched from being pulled.
Why Are the Chains Dainty and Not Super Thick?
One reason is safety! We have to be sure that in an emergency, you or someone else can easily remove it. Other reasons may include for sports, a medical procedure or an MRI, an emergency or any other need.
What if I Need to Remove it?
If you need to remove your Together Permanent Jewelry for any reason, you can actually remove it with scissors, pilers or wire cutters at the welding point or another link. Or come to us and we’ll help you! You can always return to us for a re-welding for a $30 fee.
What If I Accidentally Break It?
Depending on your lifestyle, a chain bracelet or anklet can get pulled, snagged or caught unintentionally and break. Like any other fine jewelry item it’s not indestructible. We can re-link and re-weld it for you for a nominal cost as long as it’s not stretched out. If it's too stretched, you may want to buy another. Give us a call to set up a time for a re-welding for a $20 fee.
Will it go off in a metal detector?
Nope. Metal detectors don't register jewelry metals and it’s not a requirement to remove precious metal jewelry when going through airport security.
Age Requirements?
Anyone under the age of 16 will be required to have a parent or guardian present. We restrict permanent jewelry to children 10 and over. Please be aware that younger children may grow out of it over time and we highly suggest that you keep an eye on the fit as they wear it.
Why Do Prices Sometimes Change?
Gold prices are set daily and if there is great fluctuation, we may need to adjust prices as we are sometimes paying more for gold at different times.
Can I Return It?
All permanent jewelry sales are final. If you no longer enjoy it, you can gift the chain to someone and we can weld any chain bought from us on the recipient for a $40 refitting and rewelding fee.
How Do I Take Care of It?
14K solid gold link bracelets and anklets don’t need much care. You can remove residue by brushing it with a very soft toothbrush dipped in water with a few drops of dish washing liquid.
