David Duncan Livingston is a photographer for interior designers, architects, magazines and books. He returned to ceramics recently and over the years, studied at Haystack Mountain School of the Arts, San José State University, and the College of Marin. In his ceramics practice he seeks to hold a balance of discipline and improvisation. In his Free Bird series, suspended between abstraction and recognition, his porcelain birds invite trust in the hand, risk in the making, and freedom of flight.
