Description
Artist Ilysa Leder works loose and quickly en plein air to capture an experience before the light changes the scene, resulting in ethereal interpretations of fleeting moments. Sometimes the artist creates it as a memory painting. These works are a reminder of the world as imperfect and in constant change.
Meet the Artist
Born and raised in New York, Ilysa Leder’s artistic education began at the Met and Guggenheim, where she explored endlessly under the tutelage of her grandmother. She began painting in high school, attending the Huntington School of Fine Art. After completing a BFA at SUNY Buffalo, the artist studied at the School of Visual Arts in New York City before moving to Miami for an advertising gig, at the then pinnacle of the field, Crispin Porter and Bogusky. Her appreciation of the natural world and the understanding that boredom is a solid path to creativity guided her from London to Miami and Colorado; ultimately making her home on a mountaintop in Northern California in the shadow of Mt. Tam.
