Animalia

New works by painter Michael McConnell and sculptor Austyn Taylor have arrived.

Michael McConnell / Paintings
Michael has been painting visual narratives with animals in the San Francisco Bay Area for nearly 20 years. We've sold many of his animal-centric color field paintings since we started carrying his works in 2024. We love how the animals in his paintings are portrayed with immense soul. His paintings are also an exploration of abstracted color and forms composing an environment for representational depictions of animals to reside in. There is a dialogue amongst the layers within the color palette: taking interest in how colors can provoke a mood, a feeling, or a sense of place.

Austyn Taylor / Ceramic Sculptures
An MFA from acclaimed Alfred University and work now in more than 20 international galleries, Austyn has always had a calling to the imaginative and comical side of life. She draws from ancient and contemporary sources to create works of “folk-pop”. These delightful sculptures provoke a curious humor and are icons of love, hope, optimism and good luck. They become your family when you take them home!

“LUCKY US, ANIMALS THAT IMAGINE BEING HUMAN”  ~ AUSTYN TAYLOR

We invite you to come view the exhibition, Animalia. Mammals, birds, reptiles and even a fish (now sold) representing the four animal kingdoms are included in these expressions of modern abstract animal portraits and folk pop sculptures.
