The happiest of man's best friend, it hangs on your wall to greet your every day. Ears flapping in the wind. Tongue wagging.
A portmanteau (yep, looked it up) of Mendocino-made and Dog... thus, introducing Mendog! A perfect blend coming from Austyn's artist in residence in Northern California.
Description
From the artist: I use imagery from midcentury American cartoons, modern art and ancient sculpture to astutely drum home friendly adages like, “everyone is trying their best.” Hand-made sculptures symbolically visualize our collective humanity, give proof for a pro-human doctrine and make valid an optimistic approach to reality.

Meet the Artist
Austyn Taylor's art practice is at it’s core a reaction to the deconstructed heaps of culture left by post modernism and a search for value and virtue. Her aim as an artist is to create works which circle around sacred values such as unconditional love, authenticity, imagination and human dignity. For 20 years her work has utilized figurative characters evolved from the closest thing to authentically sacred symbols from her culture – the graphic hand drawn aesthetics found in American animation.
