In "Purple Haze" we have the yin yang of dark and light purple halves with repetitive flowers developing a pattern narrative are recognizable Mark Cherry. His bold strokes, vibrant color palettes, found materials, remind many of DuBuffet and Art Brut. Mark’s signature style, however, is an unconventional imprint of being essentially self-taught, with a career that spans decades of painting and artworks that are at once modern, graphic and spontaneous.
Description
Brooklyn-born, Mark tells us that he first realized art fed his soul when encountering the works at MoMA. His style developed into a representation of archetypal subconscious–universal, primal symbols and images, both collected memories and imagination. When asked, "What’s the most inspiring thing you’ve seen, read, watched or listened to recently?" Mark responded: Human Spirit.
